An economist as well as an oenologist, Edwin Soon juggles many hats. He organizes wine competitions and is invited to judge at several international wine shows. Ed is also a restaurant reviewer. Then there are the visits to food and wine producing countries, exhibitions, wine education duties and writing. Ed has worked in wineries in the US, Australia and France, run wine shops and even sold wine door-to-door. After a stint with the Sydney Morning Herald, Ed was inspired to write, and returned in 1985 to Singapore and began writing for the Sunday Times, Harpers Bazaar and Wine & Dine. As an author, Ed has several books under his sleeve including Pairing Wine with Asian Food, a book on Tea and The Wines of France. Ed is the contributing wine editor of Appetite magazine and wine columnist for The Star Malaysia. Ed has been consulted on sensory evaluation, wine portfolio management, and has been on TV (CNA) and radio (speaking on food and wine on Buon Appetito and National Public Radio). One thing Ed has got to do soon is to renew his membership subscriptions with the ASEV as well as the ASVO.
